Simply Falling

So here came 21st of December 2012 and it's on its way to history. Nothing started, nothing ended on this day, not something of importance for me, at least. Maybe the change's started in the surface and it'll take time to deliver results. Maybe nothing's happened. The future will show.

I don't know about you: has this day ended your world the way you've known it or not. But there is a present from me to you, a song to listen to and see if it'll have the same soothing effect on your soul as it had on mine.

Jewellery Making: Second Level

Now, when I'm well into my second level of learning how to make jewellery, I'm going to show you the new things I made. So far I've discovered a few techniques that I like most:
- wire modeling;
- micro macrame;
- peyote stitch (tubular);
I've found that bead-stitching somehow soothes me and allows me put my thoughts together. Same applies to the other two techniques: wire modeling and micro macrame.

My Valentine

I realize it's time for Christmas, not Valentine's day, but yet this song made such a strong impression  on me, that I decided to share it with you. I'm not sure if that's the song itself or its video that had this effect. Or maybe the combined impact. Can't really tell as I hadn't heard this song before I saw

Frozen Herbs in Olive Oil

Living in Bulgaria and wanting fresh, organic herbs during the winter doesn't leave you with many options. During my stay in Athens I enjoyed fresh herbs throughout the year and tried to do the same in here, but last winter all the herbs I had at home died. Freezing the herbs also didn't go well (tried that one 3 years ago).
So you can imagine what my delight was when one day, while browsing through my home page on FB, I popped into an article suggesting we could freeze the herbs in olive oil. The idea being you'll be able to get a cube of frozen herbs with olive oil and instantly put it on salads or dishes. Unfortunately I forgot to add the source of

Cretan Salad with Dakos

I just returned from a trip to Athens, where my good friend Sofia gave me original Cretan wheat rusks, called Dakos, and some Cretan cheese, produces by her "nonos" (godfather in Greek). Back in Sofia I was so tempted to prepare one of the most delicious Greek salads, the Cretan one, that could wait no longer and did it for lunch.

First Level Jewellery Making Completed!

Getting the certificate of completion
I successfully completed the first level of my jewellery course and, as I promised a couple of weeks ago, am now going to show you my first efforts in jewellery crafting. After the intensive course during the summer, we had three weeks to complete our first collections of at least 8 pieces (a set counts as one piece), using at least half of the techniques learnt. We also had to think of a theme of our collection. I chose "Nature"
as I'm so into this topic, from one side and from another, it's wide enough to compensate the lack of

Fresh Zucchini and Carrot Salad

A couple of weeks ago I was in Thessaloniki with my cousins and we ate at one fantastic restaurant, Eleniko. The zucchini salad, which we had there, Cretan style with Dakos, was the best one I've ever tried. Since then I've been dreaming of eating it again... It's not like the recipe I'm now about to share with you is the same one, but boy is it tasty enough to make a close competition!

Jewellery Making: My New Hobby

I've discovered Atelier Marabu by accident but it turned out to be a lucky one! Thanks to their Jewellery making courses I've found my new hobby and devoted all of my August weekends to it. I assume there will be much more time spent on crafting my own jewellery (and, of course, the second level of the course, which starts in early October) but that

Delicious Green Bean Salad

A few days ago I went to a market, where local organic food producers were selling their produce. Bought zucchini, green beans, cucumbers, and fresh corn. There happened to be a TV crew from a national TV station, and they shoot me while doing the deed :-p
The fresh corn I boiled the same day and ate with pleasure. The cucumbers were also easy to deal with but I had a difficult time deciding what to do with the green beans. Finally I asked for help my dear friends Kalina & Massimo, and here goes what I made from the recipe they were so kind to share with me:

Tomato Salad with Spicy Mousse

During the summer I usually eat raw food, with stress on salads. It's been 32-38 C here during the past month, so I live mainly on melons, watermelons and salads.
Yesterday I was cooking dinner for friends and started preparing a dish, which, during the process and my experiments turned out into something completely new and delicious. That's why I hurry to share the recipe with you, as it is easy to prepare, quick and tasty :)

Sandwiches with Salmon, Ginger & Fresh Herbs

I often eat sandwiches, especially when I feel too lazy to cook. Or when the weather is too hot (often the picture in BG during the summer). I grow herbs on my balcony (during warm weather and inside when cold) and practically am able to enjoy fresh herbs throughout the year! I put herbs in all my dishes as well as in all sandwiches.
For this particular one, you will need to also prepare Russian Style Salmon as described in my previous post.

Russian Style Salmon

A friend of mine, who's spent a few years in Moscow, shared with me this easy to prepare and delicious recipe. If you haven't realised yet, I'm a huge fan of salmon: in my opinion, the queen of all fish!

Quick Summer Salad

Have I ever told you that Summer is my favourite season? I just love it! And although the astronomic Summer has not officially arrived here yet, the weather is very summerish: 30+ degrees (C) outside and lovely sun above us! During Summer I love eating seasonal foods, lite and tasty dishes. I also drink more water to help the natural process of detoxification through sweating. During the last weekend I went even further helping, with a very difficult hiking project, for which I'll tell you in a separate post. Now more about one of my most favourite Summer salads:

Earthquake & Friendship

We had a strong earthquake here, in Bulgaria, a few days ago. It was like a nightmare: I was woken up by the strong shakes of my bed, it was like vibrating up and down, and the same time moving left and right. Everything in the room was shaking. It continues for a few seconds, stopped for awhile and then again started shaking. I was so shocked. I jumped off the bed, put some clothes on, grabbed my cat, and along with my sister and nephew (who were staying with me) went out in the open. Almost all of my

Best Salmon Recipe Ever

As I don't eat any meat, my protein intake is generally low and eating fish helps me finding the balance in the most healthy way. From all the fish, I definitely prefer salmon and have tried it prepared so many different ways that I've lost count. I have also spent years in search of the best, well-balanced recipe for this delicious fish.
They say: 100 grams salmon a day and you put a stop on the visible effects of aging! I can't say if that's true, as I only eat fish 2-3 times a week,

Roasted Cauliflower with Cranberries

Even when only thinking about this recipe my mouth starts watering! So delicious, easy to prepare and perfectly fit for the season. So far I've tried a few cauliflower recipes and this one turned out to be the best. You need no more than an hour from start to finish.
With no further delay, here comes the recipe!

Healthy Sandwiches

Spring in Bulgaria can be amazing and I'm happy to tell you that this spring is everything that one could wish from it. It's sunny, everything is blooming and colours mix so beautifully that I sometimes I lose myself just watching it.
Spring is the perfect time to go back to the mountains for long hiking.

Red Spring Soup

It's been awhile since I last posted a new recipe here. And the reason is not that I haven't cooked any tasty food but just my laziness... The Spring has arrived and it's all blooming and beautiful! And I'm trying to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Hence why there is no enough time for posting and for time-consuming recipes.

If you also (like me) have put on a few extra kilos during the Winter, now is the time right time to start eating foods that contain less calories and are easy to absorb.

All that said, here comes the recipe for a Spring celebrating Red Soup :)

Somebody That I used To Know

"Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
Told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company.."

It Ain't Me, Babe

"I’m not the one you want, babe

I’m not the one you need
..."

It's funny how realization about the important things in life sometimes hits us as out of nowhere... We hear a song, cry in the darkness and... that's it: our lives change forever.
And now here goes one of those life-changing song, It Ain't Me Babe by Bob Dylan:

Magic Carrot Cake (Raw)

I don't know if there could be a good culinary book without a recipe for a Carrot cake ;) I've tried so many different carrot cakes that I've completely lost the count. But I could guarantee that the most delicious one is prepared in accordance with the recipe I'm going to share with you in a minute.

Raw Chocolate Confetti

Every time I try a different raw dessert, I find it better than the previous one. Maybe because I only choose recipes, which I find more appealing than the ones I've already tried, and maybe because I've started developing a taste for raw food. The more I eat raw, the more I enjoy the healthy, lively taste of it. Where this roads is going to lead me yet I don't know, but could say honestly that I enjoy every step taken.
And now it is time to present you an easy to make, a few ingredients only, delicious dessert.

Mystery White Boy

I've heard Jake Scot is to shoot a film about Jeff Buckley's life, with Reeve Carney playing the lead role. The project is in pre-production phase and its title is "Mystery White Boy". The film is due 2013.

But that's not all. There is another fill about Buckley's life on the horizon, directed by Daniel Algrant, named "Greetings from Tim Buckley" and expected this year. The leading role will be played by Penn Bradgley.

The more the merrier I'd say. If anything Jeff Buckley definitely deserved all that attention. And here is my favourite songs of his:

Remembering...

Sometimes I think the world we live in has gone crazy. But what's the world? Isn't it us? Isn't our world simply a reflection of our own souls and thoughts?
Sometimes it's hard to convince oneself that it's worthy going on, fighting all the forces in and outside. Remembering all that has been and anticipating the future, trying to live in the present. All thoughts spinning in the head.

Special Raw Chocolate Cake

It's been so cold lately (mostly between -12 and -23C) that I had no desire to write or do anything! I started thinking that if there was a previous life for me it was the one of a bear: mainly 'cos of them sleeping throughout the cold winters.
For me one of the best weapon to fight the cold weather is eating sweets. Chocolate. There is such a special magic when I take a bit of a chocolate cake and it just melts in my mouth, making my whole being happier!

All My Little Worlds

Have you ever tried to catch a star, or something simpler - hold a butterfly in your palm and make it stay there? It might have been something not so obviously impossible, though. I, personally, have tried so many impossible things, that finally I've lost the count. A question of fate, as one may say. Or as it so well put in one of my most favourite books, Alice in Wonderland:

"I'm Too Busy To Exercise"

Ever heard or thought of that before? Well, then the following cartoon was destined to meet you. It's one of the many drawn by Randy Glasbergen, a man who understands some issues so well.

Baked Sea Bream

When it comes to fish I could live on salmon, sea bream and sea bass only (in this order). After years of experimenting I've found a few recipes that guarantee excellence in taste, and here comes one of them.

Healthy Falafel

If I had to make a list with the foods I like most, falafel would be well ahead on it. Though I last ate it years ago, when I still was eating fried food. Then recently I suddenly realized that I could bake instead of fry them. Which was kind of stupid, as at my mother's home meat balls were always baked, not fried, and should've come with this idea years earlier. But as people say, there is no point in crying over spilled milk, and so I did - found a few

Vitamin-Bomb Salad

One of my most favourite salads is the one made of carrots, beetroots, and apples. I usually grate them and season with olive oil. And then, last month I tried this salad in a restaurant, but the ingredients were sliced into thin sticks, instead of being grated. And there it was! The one thing needed to bring the salad to a totally new level

Happy New Year!

And here comes my first post for 2012, along with my wishes for better life for everyone! Hope that the year has started for you as good as it has for me, and wish that this one is better than all in the past!
And here is the song that'll close the loop between the beginning of time (for me ;)) and this day in particular. The idea came from the lately viral wave in FB: everyone to find the song which was number one of the week they were born.
